I remember that being one of the first things I really really really liked about Ben once we started dating and I realized how much he liked music. And not only did he like music, he liked the same kind of music and the same bands…and I just really really really liked him! Hillsong, Jesus Culture, Bethel Music, Passion…those were some of our favorites and still are to this day. We almost always have one of these bands playing in the car when we’re driving or going in the background when we’re at home…so I guess our baby girl didn’t have a chance to not like music too, hehe.
Ayla is only a few months old, but it seems that she is already a music person. Whether it’s us singing to her or music playing from the speakers…she always notices it. We sing You Are My Sunshine and I Love You, You Love Me (from the barney show, hehe) to her all throughout the day, and almost without fail, it makes her break into the biggest smiles and wiggles every time. Or she’ll be laying on the bed and a song will start playing from the computer, and she turns her head towards the sound and just quiets instantly. Or when she’s having a hard time going to sleep…we’ll play some lullabies and so many times, it calms her and she drifts off peacefully (not always, mind you…because there is no magic sleep pill for babies, hehe).
Our two favorite lullabies come from Plumb’s “Blink” album. The whole album is lovely but we have two that we play almost every night as Ayla goes to sleep::
::God Will Take Care of You – such a sweet song with the tenderest words of God’s love and care
::My Sweet, My Lovely – this one melts my heart every time
What about you: what are some of your favorite baby songs?
I’d love to hear your thoughts!

These songs are so restful. I can’t wait to implement music into the lives of our future children, thanks for sharing! 🙂

Michael Cards “Sleep Sound in Jesus” is the go-to album for calming our little one. She loves ‘Busy Hands, Busy Feet.’
