Ayla turned four months yesterday, and that seems almost impossible!
It both feels like she’s been with forever and I can’t even remember what life was like without her…but yet it seems to hard to believe that it’s already been four months since her birth. She has been such an incredible little gift to us, and almost daily, one of us will exclaim “how is she our daughter?!?” or “I can’t believe she’s ours!” Sure, there are challenging days and moments…where I feel frustrated or completely at a loss about what she wants and what to do to make her feel calm or happy. But mothering this sweet little baby of mine has honestly been one of the greatest joys of my life so far. All it takes is one sweet little smile from her dear little face to melt all the frustrations away and make me feel all mushy inside.
Here are some things she’s been up to in the past few months:
:: sleeping through the night like a champ! She’s been a good night sleeper ever since day one, and around two months or so, we were able to cut out the middle-of-the-night feed. She’s usually down for the night by seven thirty and has mornings where she’ll sleep until eight o’clock. I have been “dream feeding” her at ten o’clock every night, but I decided to try skipping it last night to see what would happen, and she made it until five o’clock this morning. I fed her and she was back to to sleep until eight o’clock. She does have a lot of nights/mornings when she’ll wake between five and six, and I will feed her…but so far, she’s always went right back to sleep if she gets up for an early morning feed.
:: starting to teeth! It seems like her two front bottom teeth are trying to grow in, and she’s been chewing on her fingers and gnawing on her lip nonstop. She has been a little fussier some days, but otherwise, she’s been handling it really well. We’ll see when they decide to break through!
:: rolling over! She did her first roll over at three months, and will almost immediately flip over on her back when you put her on her tummy.
:: loves the camera! It’s the cutest thing because she loves having her picture taken. Whenever I get out my camera, she will immediately start smiling and opening up her mouth all wide and get all excited for it.
:: discovering how to hold things! Just recently, she’s been able to coordinate her hands to reach out and pull her toys to her mouth. It’s the cutest thing to watch her try to make her hands go where she wants them to, and she loves to reach out for your face if you hold it close enough. It melts my heart into a pile of mush whenever she slowly reaches out her hand to touch my face.
:: learning to laugh! Gaaaah, I love that little giggle.
What about you: what are/were some of your favorite things that your babies did/do?
I’d love to hear your thoughts!
