Oh goodness, I have a plethora (<- such a fun word!) of photos from the weekend and so many good feelings, memories, and moments too!
It was my biiiiirrrthday weekend, and I’m not ashamed to say that I really love birthdays. I love my birthday, and I love other people’s birthdays because people should beĀ celebrated and what better time to do so than on a birthday, and plus it usually gives you a good reason to go out to restaurants and drink moreĀ coffee than usual and have testy treats and all that, hehe. It was seriously such a fun weekend. Ben spoiled me exceedingly! I mean, he took me to a raw vegan restaurant for my birthday dinner, and you know it takes a good man to be willing to do that for his wife, right? š We had a long, fun evening out on Friday night while a friend stayed with Ayla at the house for us. We started out atĀ Avo for a tasty meal of kimchi spring rolls, taco lettuce wraps, raw lasagna, and two pieces of dessert to finish it all off. I half-jokingly said that next time I’m going to smuggle in a piece of chicken or something, because the thing with raw vegan food is you have to eatĀ a lot to fill up and even when you do eat a lot, you leave the meal still feeling like you need a little something more. After dinner, we spent the rest of the evening at a worship concert with Amanda Cook, and you guys, it was amazing! Such a beautiful, beautiful night of worship…and even though we stood the whole time and my back was about to give out on my from being on concrete floors for two hours+ (i’m no springĀ chicken anymore, yo), it was such a perfect way to spend the evening.
Saturday was a gorgeous spring day for us, and we spent the morning at home and did some housework and yard work before heading into the city to the Nashville Farmer’s Market. I had big visions of toting home a ton of farm fresh veggies and such, but apparently it’s a little too early in the season because there were mostly meat vendors, baked goods, and craft booths, and very little produce to be found. #rookiegardener We walked around for a while, and then picnicked outside the food court area with a fresh wood-fired pizza. It was such a lovely day and perfect weather for being outside. We spent the evening having dinner at a friend’s house, and they cooked us a lavish meal and even prepared a special gourmet dessert for me for my birthday. Like I said, I was spoiled endlessly this weekend!
We spent the day at home on Sunday…baked oatmeal with raspberry and rhubarb (iĀ love love love rhubarb season) for breakfast, sitting togetherĀ for some family devotions, a walk in the sunshine, and grilling for lunch. Ben was on for helping with car parking for church, so I dropped him off at church in the afternoon and then went to one of my favorite spots for a smoothie date with Ayla while we waited for church time. Ok, well, she mostly just munched on a pretzel and stared at the people around us while I drank the smoothie…but its what we do for now, hehe. One day she can slurp along with me. We headed for church to be there by four o’clock, and I was able to get in half of the service before the little miss was finished with being held and sitting still so we watched the second half in the nursery. Anyone have any tips on getting an active one-year old to sit in a church service without being a total fussy distraction to everyone around you?!
Thank you all so much for the sweet words of blessing andĀ encouragement you shared on Ben’s hijacking post! You guys are the best!
What about you: what is your way of celebrating birthdays and people around you?
I’d love to hear your thoughts!
