Another new week!
We had a great weekend, spent mostly at home, working around the house. Honestly, there is nothing that makes you feel more married than spending a Saturday working on projects at home. I love it! We attacked the flower beds (reclaiming them from the lawn that had invaded itself due to me completely ignoring them last year), built a raised bed for the herbs-that-still-haven’t-died, , mowed the lawn, cleaned out the garage, cleaned the house, and pressure-washed the deck. I got two blisters, a splinter, and a few mild burns from the pressure washer, but completely worth a little pain and suffering for the way it’s all sparkly and clean now.
We worked hard all day, and then took off that evening to run after a Craigslist find a hour or so away. I’ve been hunting for a freestanding fireplace/mantel unit for forever, and finally found one for a reasonable price. It will take some customizing and painting, but I think it will work. Although it was a touch awkward to get there and realize that the lady selling it thought she listed it for a hundred dollars more than she did. I wouldn’t have been interested for a hundred bucks more, so we tried to bow out of the sale gracefully…but then she was so ready to get rid of it that she came down to the actual price she had listed (which she insisted that she didn’t). I thought maybe I was the confused one (although i was positive it was listed for the hundred less), and immediately pulled up the listed once we left, and yep, it was the hundred less price.
We were pretty close to the sweet little town of Skaneateles (pronounced skinny-atlas…yeah), so we went over to find something to eat. The first place we tried had a forty-five minute wait, and since we were all pretty famished by this point, we didn’t want to wait (quite american of us, i know). We ended up stumbling into a swank little tapas restaurant with no wait, and it hit the spot. The guys (my brother was with us) ordered some really great pizzas, and I had a asparagus-quinoa-radish dish and roasted brussels sprouts with a super-yum mustard sauce.
Sunday was relaxing and full of rest, just like it should be.
