I don’t know about you but I absolutely love dresses. Dresses make me feel pretty and feminine and even a little vintage. Dresses are classic…they’ve been worn since forever. Don’t get me wrong…I still love wearing skirts or jeans, but I am ultimately most comfortable in a dress.
I can spend hours online looking through dresses on ebay, ModCloth, Shabby Apple, Target, and ASOS. I try not to spend too time doing this (time-killer alert), but sometimes it’s just fun to go on the hunt.
I actually have this theory about shopping that correlates to men’s equivalent of hunting. For me, I have a hard time understanding the enjoyment that the hubs and other hunter-men get from just waiting, and waiting, and waiting in the woods, watching for that perfect kill to come through. They can go hunting and return empty-handed, but still have had a great time. They get up at crazy hours to go do this thing, often sitting or walking in the freezing cold…all because they like to hunt.
Well, I like to hunt too…but my hunt is a bit more girly. I hunt clothes and pretty things. I think I get the same kind of excitement and enjoyment out of spending a day in town or browsing the internet hunting that perfect dress, top, or accessory (for a great price, of course!). And even if I come away empty-handed, I’ve still had a great time.
There is also a balance to this that needs to be had. I find that if I spend too much time looking for clothes, I can start feeling discontent with what I do have. But in the same way that men will never be quite satisfied with that one trophy buck they got last year, I don’t think I will ever be quite satisfied with that one perfect dress I found last month. I will always want to hunt for more.
Maybe this sounds like I just go out and blow a bunch of money on clothes every week…actually, no. I have found some killer deals on ebay (a gorgeous dress for $6.00, including shipping a few weeks ago), thrift stores (last week four at Salvation Army on their 50% off sale day…$3.00 each!), and clearance racks. The biggest dress splurge I’ve done was an irresistible lace dress from Shabby Apple that I wore for our wedding rehearsal in April, just because, well, it was my wedding rehearsal
What about you? Where’s your favorite place to “hunt”?

Your analogy to hunting is terrific, especially the correlation between a day spent hunting for a dress and enjoying every moment to coming in from the field empty handed but ready to go out again the next day. Love hunting for dresses and would love to see some of your awesome bargain “kills.”
