It’s been the most glorious winter day today…the snow has been falling ever since I woke up and everything is covered in white. I feel pretty ‘snowed in,’ although I do use that term loosely since I’m married to someone who just wants to get out and drive in this stuff whenever it starts coming down, which feels so counter-intuitive to this Southern girl. I still have the idea that everything should be shut down and cancelled and impossible to get to because it’s snowing, but I’m learning that here things canΒ go on as normal for the most part.
We had a leisure breakfast of waffles and peach syrup before Ben dashed off to work, and it was so fun to have a mid-week breakfast date in our kitchen. Breakfast is my favorite and I always look forward to the weekends when I can make something for us both and we can sit down over coffee or hot chocolate for a cozy morning date.
I’ve used the snow day as an opportunity to be pretty cozy myself, and haven’t done too much besides some resting, reading, baking, and computer work. Sometimes you just want days like that, right?
We are hoping the weather clears up by tomorrow though, since my parents are scheduled to fly in for the weekend! I don’t know what all we will get into while they are here, but we are looking forward to spending some quality time with them and letting them experience a bit of this frigid and beautiful winter.
I’m off to make some dinner (this, since soup is the only thing acceptable for days like this!) and spend the evening cozied up with a book and my man and hot tea in front of the fireplace.
Have a beautiful and warm evening, friends!
What about you: what do you like to do on cozy, winter/rainy days?
I’d love to hear your thoughts!

This has been a glorious winter day! I got to do some of my favorite winter things today including plowing with the tractor, digging in a snow bank with my little sister, and cuddling my fun little boy. Snow makes winter so much better!

I like to sit at the window watching the birds eat at the feeder. I count how many different kind of birds are eating, while I drink my coffee.

Sounds like a perfect day, Rebecca! I completely agree…if it's going to be cold, let it snow!

How neat, Teresa! I should get a bird feeder on my back deck so I can bird watch + drink coffee too.

6 things.
#1: YOU have been on my mind a lot! I intend to give you a quick ring or an email sometime in the very near future. Snail mail is fun too, but takes so long and since I have been thinking of you for weeks not with no contact, I think I should go for email.
#2: I am SO glad you have a sweet little (awesome) photo of your lovely, feminine self on here now.
#3: Do you take the pictures that you blog? They are always lovely and I always wonder if they are a glimpse into your home or not.
#4: Snow days sound beautiful, but I'm officially ready for Spring and Summer.
#5: We had a snow day last week. Husband went to work and I was sad. I told him its the only snow day we get in 10 years, take advantage of it! π I stayed cozied up in my house most of the day. My neighbor was having a breakfast party and needed some supplies to i trudged over there to deliver a few items. I was glad that I had a reason to force myself outside. I think went on a winter wonderland walk through the woods with my camera. It was so beautiful. all 2 inches of it. π
#6: I miss you.
Alicia Lapp says
1. I would LOVE to hear from you, in any shape or form. π
2. Hubs took the that photo.
3. The photos I post aren't from me…yet! I've just recently picked up my Canon and decided that I WILL start using it. So hopefully soon the photos will be mine.
4. I'm almost ready for spring/summer…but not quite. π
5. I know, snow days are the best for cozy times with the hubs. We only live a mile from work so it's a little hard to get him “snowed in” too. π
6. Miss you! You should plan a trip to NY, when it's warm. π

Glad your parents are coming! Hope they CAN come with the 'big snow' coming this wknd I hearβ¦.
The chicken & rice soup looks yummy! Nothing like a pot of warm soup to comfort on cold days!
Alicia Lapp says
I think they will make it through ok…fingers crossed! I'm excited to have them here for a few days!
The soup was pretty yum! It was a different spin with the curry seasoning, but we really liked it. Definitely on the “make again” list.
