On such a day as this, all one wants to do is find a cozy spot with a fuzzy blanket, a cup of something hot, and a good book. It’s been threatening snow all day, and in my typical “I’ve been a Southern girl all my life” excitement, I love it! It actually did flurry a bit on Friday and I just wanted to sit and stare at it. If it’s going to be cold, let it snow. Northerners tell me the excitement and love for the snow will wear off in time…maybe it will. But maybe it will always be something that makes me stop and marvel.
We’ve had a lovely and full weekend spending time with family and friends. We took a quick trip down to Pennsylvania to see grandparents and some newlywed friends whose wedding we weren’t able to get to, and got in late night so we could have a full day of rest today. Saturday was a full day of socializing, but we loved it. It was especially good to visit Ben’s grandparents and spend time with them. We learned some family history and heard some funny stories, and it made us realize all over again the rich heritage that we both come from. It’s incredible to see a ninety-years-plus couple who still appreciate and love each other, to see a husband who drives forty minutes one way each day to visit his wife and spend time with her, and to hear a woman whose mind is frail and forgetful that can still firmly tell you that she is married to a good man. We were inspired and encouraged and excited to spend as many years together as God gives us, and to be proactive in protecting and nurturing our marriage.
What about you: what inspired you over the weekend?
I’d love to hear your thoughts!

I love seeing Grandpa caring for Grandma like that, he's become so soft towards her and she depends so much on him. Goosebumps.

Laughter inspired me. This weekend Micah and I laughed so much! Laughter softens the tough conversations and makes the light ones so light I feel like I'm flying…it makes life beautiful.
